HP 6200B Power Supply

Connection and Adjustment

Normal Operation (No current limiting)

  1. Connect the power supply to the circuit, using a red lead for the positive terminal (A) and black lead for the negative terminal (B).
  2. Set the Meter Switch (4) to the 50V range.
  3. Turn the Current Control (3) fully clockwise. This will remove the current limiting feature of the power supply.
  4. Turn on the power switch (1). Adjust the output of the power supply to the desired voltage using the coarse and fine voltage controls (2) as measured using a DMM.

Current-Limited Operation
  1. Turn on the power switch (1). Adjust the output of the power supply to the desired voltage using the coarse and fine voltage controls (2) as measured between the positive terminal (A) and the negative terminal (B) using a DMM.
  2. Turn off the Power Switch (1).
  3. Connect a short between the positive terminal (A) and the negative terminal (B).
  4. Set the meter switch (4) to the 1.8A range.
  5. Turn on the Power Switch (1).
  6. Adjust the Current Control (3) for the desired current as measured on the front panel meter (5).
  7. Remove the short between the positive terminal (A) and the negative terminal (B).
  8. Connect the power supply to the circuit, using a red lead for the positive terminal (A) and black lead for the negative terminal (B).
